I found a Mother of Vinegar in DH's apple juice container that has been in the refrigerator for like... months. The AJ is still sweet and good, there doesn't look like there is any other sort of contamination, just this nice gelatinous Mother floating around. I think it's not doing much to change the AJ because it wants alcohol rather than simple sugars to convert to vinegar, but I don't have any experience.

Does anyone have any experience with these colonies?

They are gooooooood for you! Save it and make vinegar!

I tried Miss Prissy ACV recipe and have a gallon in the closet, sure hope it works, since Kroger has gone up on theirs and I use a quart a month for my arthritis.use it in the chickens water and also the dogs. I sure get strange looks when someone asks, what is that in the gallon jar in your closet? marrie
