I need a new one. I use ours to slice hams, roast beast, cheeses, breads and have found it really useful. Mine is a wore out old plastic job I got at an Ace Hardware 35 years ago! I have serious Meat Slicer envy now.

Mine said nothing with bones.cknmom said:We are planning to get one this year. I didn't ever think about slicing bread; I didn't know you could. We go through 2-3 loaves a week! I thought I could only use one for meats and cheeses.
Any suggestions on specific things to look for? We would be using it at least once a day if not more. What else can we slice on it? Or is it better to ask what I can't slice on it?
We are looking at a Chefs Choice or a Cabela's.

Another thing the meat slicer is good for is making jerky. Take a chunk of meat that is about 1/2 frozen (it is easier to slice that way) slice to desired thickness and use un your favorite recipe.usedteabag said:SO. My question to all you lovely people is, how do you suggest I go about doing this? Do I just get a big roast, bake it, and slice away? Do I let the meat cool first before slicing? If you have any experience or even any recipes, I would be so grateful! It's a brave new world of cooking I've gotten myself into, and I cannot wait!![]()
