Does that recipe include adding sugar & fruit or juice every so many days while it sits out & kinda ferments and takes about 30 days to fully ripen before baking it up into the most heavenly cake or bread?

no juice or fruit.

it takes 10 days.

it comes in a ziplock, you mush the bag for several days, on the 6th day you add sugar, flour and milk, mush for several more then on the 10th day you add sugar, flour, milk, divide into 4 and what left you make a loaf of bread/cake.

I like the idea of the fruit/juice starter and fermenting for 30 days.

I'd also like to do a sour dough starter

I always hate to get started on those types of recipes cause I can never find enough people willing to take extra starter. They all love to eat the stuff, but never to fix it themself and I hate to throw it all out. The 30 days do not include making the starter that takes additional 2 weeks

Anyway here's the 30 day brandied Friendship Cake (DO NOT REFRIDGERATE)

Use a glass gallon container or jar to brady your fruit. Do not close the lid tightly, just sit it on top (or cheesecloth cover) to keep the dust/bugs out. When you are ready to bake your cakes, you will have enough starter juice to share with about 4 friends.

STARTER
3/4 C canned peaches, drained & cut into pieces
3/4 C pineapple tidbits, drained
6 maraschino cherries, halved
1 1/2 C sugar
1 pkg Red Star Instant blend yeast (I'm sure other's work too)

Combine ingredients and place in glass jar with loose cover. Stir several times first day, once a day thereafter. At the end of 2 weeks the fruit has fermented enough to start.

TO BEGIN
Combine:
1 1/2 C starter juice
2 1/2 C sugar
1 qt sliced peaches with juice (29oz can) or equal amount of other canned fruit

Stir mixture daily for 10 days (if you don't the top will mold)

*On the 10th day...........

ADD:
2 1/2 C sugar
1 #303 can of pineapple chunks including juice (16oz can)
Stir mixture daily for 10 days.

*On the 10th(or 20th if you're being more specific)day.......

ADD:
2 1/2 C Sugar
2 (9oz) jars Maraschino cherries, drained. (mandarin oranges are also good)
Stir mixture daily for 10 days.

*On the 10th (30th) day after you have added the cherries, your mixture is ready to be used for baking the friendship cakes.

EACH BATCH OF FRUIT MAKES 4 RECIPES

For each cake....
1 1/2 C brandied fruit, no juice
1 box yellow or white cake mix (or home mix) dry
2/3 C cooking oil
1 C pecans or walnuts, coarsley chopped
4 eggs
1 sm box instant vanilla pudding, dry

Combine all ingredients. Pour into greased and floured bundt or loaf pans. Bake @ 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes (less time for smaller pans)

GLAZE (optional & enough for all cakes)
1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
1 lb powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 stick butter/margarine (or equivelant measure)

Mix well untill creamy & smooth.

These are good, but with soooo much sugar & other ingredients it can get alittle expensive.
