I heart my library!

Actually, the research part is true and it free....the drop-off service is just for me....'cause I'm special.... :P

I love that quote!

Our regional library even has a book mobile. It is purple and all the kiddos (and adults, I admit) know "her" as "Violet". :P

It takes me 15-20 min to get to our city branch from way out here, but Violet parks within walking distance down a nearby dirt road for us bumpkins every Sat am. You can order any book the library system has and Violet will bring it right to your front door...almost.

Libraries do rock! :thumbsup
We had a book mobile when I was a kid. It is one of my fondest summer memories. I waited for that thing like some kids waited for the ice cream truck! (Maybe I do qualify for that Nerd club after all....) I can still smell the way it smelled inside and feel the paperboard my library card was made from. Aaaah!

I'm kind of fond of libraries myself.

My favorite thing to do is sneak into the library at night when it is closed, pull a couple of books off the shelf, and sit under one of the security lights to read. Quiet, dark, and a little spooky.

I'm not sure how much longer it will be around, though. Our library's book budget was slashed in half this year.

Hello Mr. Librarian!

Sorry about your budget! That really, really makes me sad. :(

I worked at a school with a great two story library and at night I would do the same thing every once in a while. More often I was in the pool though. (Back then I lived on campus.)

All of our 9 libraries open at 1:00 pm (except one that opened early on Tuesday) there was usually a line formed before the doors were opened. (This was during the week btw.) It is nice to see how many people use the library.

if you wax nostalgic about bookmobiles and libraries (or really just reading in general), you MUST read The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. it's so good.

Buster, I seriously wish you were our librarian. it would be great to have someone "on the inside" who has your good taste in books!

When DH and I were researching our new home choices 9 years ago the two things that were at the top the list were the library and the art center - we are both readers (me more than him), and he is an artist. The area we chose has good examples of both; we knew that books and art are necessary to a happy life.

A couple of weeks ago my best friend (since 5th grade) and I went to our high school reunion in California. We spent a lot of time wandering around our little hometown, and both headed, almost instinctively, to the library where we had spent so much time as children.

BBH - what a neat summer program!

BBH that sounds like a wonderfull summer program.

I too love libraries. Growing up we would go to the library every friday. I picked out so many books, I could barely carry them.
My DD got her own library card when she was 5.

Our library has a section not open to the general public that I really want to check out sometime. It is all about the local history. I want to learn more about what they offer there.

I would hate it, if there were no more libraries...

I loved the library in my town growing up. You would think being in a much bigger town that they would have more to offer, but that's not the case. The library is still one of my favorite places.
