That's interesting, Britesea.
I always have a jug of clorox around here even though we have a septic tank and I don't use it much. I keep a spray bottle of bleach/water in the kitchen as a spray disinfectant and have to use a couple TBSP in my water softener regularly. I never gave it a thought that it'd have a shelf life. Also I never would have considered pool shock.

We have well water and I use the small chlorine tablets for pools in our well. A $15 jug lasts us around 2 years or longer and those last tablets are just as strong as the first ones. I have a hammer if I need crumbles. :D

(Occasionally I drop a tablet in the toilet tanks, too.)

Britesea: did you mean that we can use pool shock to make a batch of " cleaning " clorox...? is this a dumb question? You can laugh....We had pools for years and I never even thought to use shock that way...

I have not used pool shock, but I read on another forum that this is a good way to store chlorine for a longer period of time. You can mix it with water as you need it for cleaning
