If it is cast iron and has no cracks I would snap it up in a heart beat.

i emailed to ask if holes had been drilled int he bottom and if it had the chain or ropes

didnt think about asking about cracks

but if its in good condition (with no chemical use) and can be cleaned it can be used to cook in right?

If it"s cast and defect free and had no chemicals in it it should clean up nicely and be very usefull. A good friend of mine said his family used to make ketchup in a kettle just like that over an open fire

:barnie There are somethings people should NOT use as planters and that kettle falls into that list. That really stinks cause you don't see usable kettles like that real often.
