I made my own cheese molds from "bain marie" pots (plastic) that I got at a restaurant supply place for around $4. I just drilled holes in the ones I bought for molds, and not in the ones I bought to use as followers. I set a rough wooden follower inside the pot in my homemade press. The smaller one works well with a 1-2 lb cheese, and the larger is for a 3-4+ lb cheese.

If I want to lightly press salata ricotta or St Maure (I like to make it a bit firmer) then I just put some room temp water into the follower pot.

Works great!

I didn't think there were any restaurant supply places around here, but an internet search revealed a large warehouse less than 2 miles from my office. Dangerous..... :D

eta: if you can't find them, I can make you some and we can trade for something. I will be going to The County probably around the end of November.

I have been looking for butter churns too. The cheapest one I found in good condition was $200 :p

I found some butter presses, but all of them had cracks or other damage. Stupid Colorado lack of humidity!

If anyone has an egg scale they are selling, let me know. :D

Are you talking about the big crock churns or the jar churns?
After reading all these post about churns I am going to the flea market next week and buying all the churns and selling them to you guys. Around here you can pick them up for 20 to 60 dollars.

I was looking for something like one of these...

Not necessarily these models, but any one with the paddles and the crank.

And egg scales like these...

These are running around $25-35 dollars at local antique places. A little less on line, but with shipping it works out to be similar.

I want them not only to use but for decor. I LOVE old kitchen gadgets and pick them up whenever I can find them. Just need to work out the best way to display them...LOL
