Its March....How does your pantry look?

Am I getting this right? We are supposed to post about what we have in our pantries right now? Well, since I am a "prepper", I probably have gone overboard. (No 'probably" about it. That's the goal of prepping !)

First are pictures of my commercially canned storage. Riveting.

I don't know if I got these in the right order, but it is supposed to be:
1. Dry storage in boxes.
2. First set of shelves, starting with soup.
3. Second set of shelves, starting with review of first shelf and then on to fruits and veggies.

ETA: Just watched these online and they shut off after 10 minutes. You have dodged a bullet.

Hello Ldychef2k,

Is that your flour on the bottom shelf?
Can I ask where you picked up the plastic containers? Im looking for a container that will hold my flour, a 50 pound bag and DH is a contractor, so obvisouly his suggestion is a bright orange Home Depot bucket. :barnie

You all are awesome! I love the pics.

I still have one spaghetti squash, frozen peppers, zucchini and broccoli, canned pears, apples, tomatoes and jam. Plenty of long-term dry goods and store-bought items, though I think I need to buy more wheat.

I get my buckets from our local Burger king. They are pickle buckets and they have a rubber seal in the lid. I use these for many things...feeding animals, laundry soap, soaking white clothes, food. I can get the buckets for free..which is a plus! :)

So what is wrong with a Home Depot bucket? :P I would not store the flour in one without first cleaning it well and then lining it with a plastic bag or something, (or leave the flour in the bag) but some of my best storage is like that WITH A GAMMA SEAL LID. Wonderful things those! The Wonderful Gamma Seal Lid

Bare. :( I just started to can and all I have is a dozen jars of jelly. We do have several bags of dried rice, beans and oats. Our store bought canned goods are drying up too. I am determined this spring and summer to have bunches of canned veggies, soups and fruits for the winter.

You are not dreamin' any more - YOU HAVE made a START!!! We all were in your shoes at one time or another. We can coach you and you can succeed!!

By the way ... I am a city farmer too. Where you live is irrelevant. What matters is HOW you live!! :D

I was just hoping for something clear or white. Those lids look fantastic. I will order some.

Can I just ask for the buckets. Did you talk to a manager or someone special, or just anyone?

Thank you for the advice!

Partyfowl...you can just aske the managers. Most of the time they are happy to let you have them. You can also check with your local Deli. They sometimes sell them cheap, like $2.00 each. Go to all the burger places..they get thier pickles in 5 gallon buckets.

The local Barbecue joint in my sisters town sells the buckets for $2.00 each as well!
