I cup of coffee down and I'm still not seeing straight. Moving on to ibuprofen.
Cats will never enter my kitchen.

I do not need help making messes. I really don't like animals in the house. The dog gets too because she is our first alarm at any goings-on. Plus, my allergies have flared from just having outdoor cats. I can't imagine how bad it would be with them indoors!
Funny cat story of the week - these cats are so playful, always finding new toys to bring to the porch. So this week's toy is...a squirrel tail!

I have no idea what happened to the rest of the squirrel, or how they managed to "find" a tail, but it just cracks up. I hope they bring home a chipmunk tail next. Them things are taking over.
Long explanation of my fasting:
I fasted because it's the one practice that helps me keep a handle on eating, and therefore my weight. I just do not do well with cutting carbs because I like all food too much. Fasting once a week works for me when I buckle down and commit to it. My husband has fasted once a week ever since college too and he's in near perfect health according to all tests. Anyway, I know it's controversial, but it's really not a big deal. It does not destroy the metabolism, that's a myth. I find it makes my body work better while giving me a feeling of control over my eating at the same time. Funny thing is I never wanted to do it - even though DH has always done it - until a trainer recommended it to me. She was trying it out herself and asked me to join her, and whadda ya know, it worked very well for me. Granted, it's mentally very challenging for me and so I am not as consistent as I would like to be. It's hard to fast when you have to prepare food for kids all day long
If you want to know more about the physiological effects, check out Brad Pilon's website - he calls it EatStopEat. He's got alot of the "science" behind why it works. And since I'm a nerd, that was all it took to 100% convince me
I would still fast for spiritual purposes if I felt called to do so. In some ways, DH and I feel that a weekly fast for health purposes IS a spiritual fast because the body is the temple and it's our job to care for it...it's just a discipline.
