Take this basic recipe...
"Kale Chips
adapted from Stacie Billis at ChowMama.com

1 bunch organic kale, torn into 1/2″ pieces
3 tablespoons organic olive oil
1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons sea salt

Preheat oven to 400 F. Whisk oil and vinegar and toss kale in the dressing until thoroughly coated.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place kale on sheet in a single layer and sprinkle with salt.

Bake for 15 minutes or so, until crispy.

Check out Stacie's blog for recipes and tips for cooking for kids at ChowMama.com and the ChowBaby baby food website."

Then, as soon as you take it out of the oven, sprinkle powdered parmesan all over the chips.

Hmmm....how kale-y does it taste? I really don't like kale. But if it doesn't taste like kale, I'm in! I'd use bacon grease and grated feta..... :drool

Oh, and do you mean 1/2" strips? Removing stems, I'd guess? 1/2 inch squares would be too tiny....

I just cut it in to chunks. Yes, stem removed. As for flavor, it is kind of vegetable-ish and kind of potato-ish with a kick of "green". There was no "wow this is definitely kale" taste. I hope that made sense.

I REALLY liked the texture. It was so light and delicate and crispy. I ate a bunch raw and then I tried crunching some up and putting them on tuna salad. Both ways were yum :D

That makes sense....I do love greens but just not kale!

Gonna try them...it sounds so simple, too.

These were amazing! And it was amazing how fast I snarfed down an entire head of kale....I hate kale. DH ate a few then wandered off. His loss is my gain! :drool

I was amazed at the delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture....it was fascinating. The flavor was wonderful, too, especially since it was kale. It had a "green" flavor, but not overwhelming. The vinegar and cheese really covered the kale quite nicely. I will be making this again. And it was amazingly easy!

:weee

I was hoping you would like them. I ate some before I added the cheese so I think the baking tones down the kale-ness in general. The little kick from the ACV is also nice. And yeah, I ate a whole bunch by myself in seconds :p

I may have to go out and pick some of my volunteer kale and try this! I love kale soup, and we grow it for the chickens, but I may have to increase our kale space...
