Oh, ok! My husband's cousin and her husband used to live there years ago.

We're north of Abilene, out in the boonies.

Oh wow, looks like there are two Kansas threads now. I think that's what happened on BYC too, until someone decided to put them all together and call it Consolidated Kansas. Perhaps we should do the same here?

Anyone got any tips or ideas as of a way to use and filter rain water for drinking water. I am trying to reduce to useage on my water bill. I have a few ideas but would like some more input before I make a fool of my self.

Daren, I got nuthin...

But if you post your message over on the 'roll your own' or somewhere else on the forum, you'll probably get responses from those who do it.

I do remember reading something somewhere about making your own RO system. Had a couple of filters and a black light for bacteria.

And by all means, post your progress, successes and mistakes! We all learn from them.

Good luck, sounds like you have a plan brewing!

ETA: Add your post to 'resource conservation', too.

I don't use rainwater for our family's drinking water but I do collect as much as I can and use it for other things for the same reason you stated - to reduce dependence on city water. I collect it for use in watering both the garden and the animals. Every little bit helps, right. Of course lately its been kind of hard to collect much. Wish we'd GET some rain.
