I hate mice more than snakes, obviously!
The reaction to the snake was pretty much the same here as on my facebook page and family blog. Lots of "when I was a kid, dad would..." kind of tales. Great reading.
I cleaned the church kitchen today, and while there, I talked to Pat. I mentioned to her that we were looking for a replacement stove. She hears everything as the church admin, so she will let us know when something becomes available. I told her it didnt' have to be new, but it *did* have to work and not cost an arm and a leg. Last year someone donated appliances to the Christo Mission Yard Sale (next week). I looked in the storage area, thinking I could possibly buy a stove from Christo...but none have come in so far. That would be my idea of perfect....getting a new-to-me stove and helping the Christo Mission Team at the same time.
I *did* get something from the sale already..... but it is a semi-secret for an ss friend.
There is a craigslist ad for our local region for a
"new stove for $80" which says in the actual post:
"Needs scrubbed clean before it is sold." That is one funny person. If it is new, why does it need scrubbed?? I just don't get it.
Today I did some garden weeding, read some books, did a bit of work on the quilt, and a bit of housework. But I did not even go into the breakfast nook where the pantry is located.
When TR got home, I happened to mention how I hadn't opened the pantry doors to see if the snake was still gone. He checked, and the holes are still covered and the snake is gone.
HAPPY HAPPY ME!!!
Tomorrow is packed full of fun stuff to do. Tomorrow is our First Farmers' Market of the year! I am surprised because it wasn;t scheduled to open until the 2nd week of July. I guess everyone is just anxious to get the summer market going. I am too! I am not sure what will be at the market this early in our season. Gardens everywhere are way behind schedule, with the possible exception of those who use greenhouses, like our local CSA.
BTW, I was talking to sister L today about the market season. Her sis-in-law has 35 acres of strawberries (for their farm stand) and only 10 are producing well enough to market. The family strawberry farm is in Indiana; but it seems this could be almost everyone's story this year.
After the Farmers' Market, TR and I have our Beek Association Pot Luck Lunch and Beek Meeting. The speaker is discussing how to get your honey/beewax products ready for the county fair in August.
Then in the afternoon, TR will be attending the Men's Ministry is having a Shoot and Eat Meat get together. They will be shooting skeet and into bullseyes and then grilling steaks. This event is being held at Tom's and Miki's farm. I will be at home having something wonderful from the farmers' market.
Miki says she has honeybees in the eaves of her house and she wants me to take a look at how hard it would be to remove them (bees for me!

). I don't know if I will do that Saturday or wait until Sunday; I will have to check the weather in the morning.
Sunday at church, TR and I are the hospitality hosts for the 11am ENCOUNTER service. The women's Sunday class is on bye week, so next week we will start a new Bible study. The Men's Class is starting a new Bible study called
The Man in the Mirror: 24 Questions Men Face Everyday.
As for this day, I really just enjoyed myself for the most part. In fact, I was feeling preeeettty lazy. I spent some time watching the beehive, as there are bees going in and out of it. I didn't see any pollen being carried in; I'm pretty much convinced they are robbers. :/
Today the temperatures were in the mid-70s with sunshine and blue skies, and the heat index was just 78. Just a beautiful June day.
I see there are storms for southern parts of Ohio this evening. Stay safe out there!
HAVE FUN!
