keljonma's Front Porch - Settling in and adjusting

That is good that the insurance $$ finally came through!
Why does Mike pay you so sporacially?
That is awesome that your DH has a job for the next two weeks!
Being that I am only a little ways from you I am getting the same crazy weather!
My BJG have been my favorite chicken so far! They are very nice and calm! They just took forever to start laying. I love how they follow the kids around the pen. The kids are getting more used to that...at first they did not like it they thought the chickens were 'chasing' them.

Yes, keljonma, we are getting the same kind of weather here. Local weather predicted up to 7 inches of snow for us by tomorrow. ICK. Means I'll have frozen waterers in the morning. My FIL and DH are down at the store getting bread and a few other basics just incase we get snowed in. It's been known to happen. The snows really drift here so a lot of the time, even though we don't have a lot of snow, we are still snow bound until it melts some. One of the "perks" of living on the highest peak in the county.

7 inches?????? :gaah
I am going to have to listen to the weather report tonight and see how much I am supposed to get! I live on the highest point in my county too!!

Well, those ARE lunch essentials in a man's diet!!

I made up some chili, chicken noodle, and roast beef soup about a month ago and then canned up all of the leftovers into pint jars...using the hot water bath method...and then put them into the fridge for DH to take for his lunches instead of having to 1) buy him lunch foods 2) to keep him from buying lunches while at work. So, he takes them about 4 days a week and then takes leftovers the other days.

Ok, now it makes sense as to why they pay you when they do.

My DS said there was some coyotes running around with rabies when he was out deer hunting....said two of the neighbors had each shot one while they were out hunting. So, he called me all in a panic to make sure I was watching the chickens. He knows I will shot any dog, coyote, or coon upon sight in my coop!

OH Her Royal Highness is no trouble ;) Actually, she gives the place quite a bit of character and she is fast becoming one of my favorite chickerdoodles! I must confess to adding to her uppity attitude by coddling her and giving in to her ways. Sigh. But who can possibly resist her charms? Not I....especially not when dark brown eggs might be coming from it lolol
