The sun is shining! 
It is 55, but the winds are at 12 mph.
DH is working. I am being lazy at home.
I got a begonia plant from a friend this week-end. I have it and the spider plant from QA & E sitting on my dining table in the sun. Titan was a bit upset because I made him move over to share the bit of warmth from the sun.
My mind is still reeling from my Koinonia week-end; it was a time filled with the Holy Spirit. Something happened over the week-end that will mean another change in my life; but I am not quite ready to talk about it yet. I met and spent the week-end with a GREAT group of women! J, one of the women at my table, said that I reminded her of one of her younger sisters. Funnily enough, she looks and reminds me of one of my younger sisters.
My follow-up women's reunion meetings start tonight and are scheduled to last for 6 weeks.

We used to eat poultry and I think I have thousands of recipes for chicken in my files.Dace said:
The reason we don't eat poultry is partially due to our becoming aware of industrial chicken practices and partially to our relationship with the chickens we raised. Originally we picked 25 different heritage breeds, so that we could make a decision about a breeding program to raise birds and hatching eggs. The Ladies, as our pick-a-breed test group, were always going to be pets. We knew they had a very good life and *couldn't* eat them. So how could we eat some poor bird who was abused in the industrial poultry system?
We do have times in our lives when we eat vegetarian meals exclusively, but then we add small bits of fish, pork, or beef to our diets, typically in colder weather. I try to never use more than 1/4 pound of meat in a meal. So if a recipe calls for 1 pound of meat, it better provide us with 4 meals for 2, or I cut the portion of meat down to the 1/4 pound. I have made most recipes that call for meat, a meat-free meal by substituting lentils or grains. The chili I made last Friday had just 1/8 cup of ground beef in it. (I posted the recipe in TR's died and went to heaven thread.)
Probably because of our changing from vegetarian to meals with meat, our DD is a vegetarian and DS is definitely a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

DH is working. I drove him to work, so I could volunteer at Christian Cafe today.
43 this morning and we are supposed to be sunny and reach 62.

I have always really loved chickens. They have such a wonderful personalities and are such beautiful creatures as well. I first got involved with them as a small kid and have pretty much had chickens every since. When I first found out how they were treated commercially I wanted to make sure that the birds I ate were always treated far better than that.
That is why I raise and butcher my own chickens and turkeys. I know what a good life they have and I know how little they are stressed even when it comes time to become my dinner. They are always fed well, handled kindly and given plenty of fresh air and sunshine. They never know fear. I admit I don't sing them to sleep, but then only very SPECIAL chickens have ever gotten that.

I worked on prep for Christian Cafe today at church. So I got free lunch. After I picked up TR after worked, he joined me for free dinner at Christian Cafe before he went to his men's meeting. This was his last meeting.
Tonight's Christian Cafe dinner consisted of:
Meatball sub sandwiches
veggie soup
chicken noodle soup
tossed green salad
cottage cheese
fresh fruit
fruit salads
homemade croutons for soups and salads
dinner rolls and assorted breads from Panera Bread
homemade cakes, pies, desserts
sugar free jellos
sugar free puddings
coffee
hot and cold tea

water

It has been a while since I posted to this journal. Since the last time I posted, my dearly beloved came out of hiding. If you have read any of his posts, you can probably guess that TeddyRoosevelt has a marvelous sense of humor.
If you ever get the opportunity to go on a week-end retreat like Koinonia or Emmaus, I highly recommend it. I am still counting my blessings. I have been busy with daily routine since I got home from Koinonia. Mostly still praying about that whole week-end.
TR has been working most of the week. He did have Wednesday off, and we ran some errands, did laundry, helped make snacks for Lead the Way Caf at church, and visited with friends. We also moved his car from Brians shop to the church parking lot.
Although he has been working full-time since March, TR is technically a part-time employee, so his hours could be cut at any time. There is a full-time position open now, and he has an interview for this position on Monday. We are praying that his interview to become a full time employee at the hospital on Monday is fruitful.
We received terrible news from TRs sister in NY. The doctors are recommending a complete hysterectomy for a uterine pre-cancerous condition. She and her dh are scheduled to come to Ohio for a visit at the end of the month, and we will see them on November 1 to celebrate TRs birthday.
One of my sisters is talking about moving to Europe for a couple years. I havent really had time to talk or write to her yet. So I dont know any details yet. My mothers parents were both born in Europe, and my dads family came over in the 1700s from different parts of Europe, so I am working on the genealogy files for my sister to help her with her documentation.
Weather-wise, this has been a typical autumn week. We had very warm sunny weather earlier this week, and almost got up to 70. It started raining last night and hasnt stopped yet. Our temperatures have been in the mid 50s, and in the upper 40 with the wind. A great number of trees have completely lost their leaves.
I woke up with a killer headache today, probably because of the weather front. I have been wearing magnets all day. So my headache is gone - but I look like a Frankenstein! TR would not let me go out with him and Titan in the storm this evening when he went to walk the dog. I am not sure if it was because he didnt want to be seen with magneto-head or he was afraid I would attract lightening.
Tomorrow is my Beekeeper Association lunch and meeting. I am taking Brown Rice & Cranberry Salad as our contribution to lunch. The meeting portion will be a demo of installing foundation in a frame.
TR has to work, so I will have to get up early and drive him, so I can use the car. So I best get to bed.
