keljonma's Front Porch - Settling in and adjusting

We have temps in the 20s and 4 inches of snow on the ground. I already miss the 50 temps we had last week! :P

Working on a quilt design for Jon and Erin that will either include a genealogy tree ... or maybe an old fashioned album style quilt that people could sign at the wedding as a memento......

My sister's aunt-in-law made her a quilt for their wedding. It wasn't one that guests could sign, but it was beautiful. She did it in the wedding colors and put their names and the wedding date on it. It was displayed on the wall of the reception and was absolutely stunning. I think that's a wonderful idea!

Thanks, glenolam! I don't know if Erin and Jon have exactly picked wedding colors - although the sash on her dress is clover green. I am thinking a medallion in the middle of the quilt with the tree surrounded by the family names. Then album blocks around the medallion that could be signed. However, I am still planning it out and on about the tenth piece of grid paper.

We have about a half foot of snow on the ground now. The forecast is calling for freezing rain tonight and up to 10 additional inches of snow by tomorrow night. The coming cold front put in in the mood to make some cold weather comfort food. :D

So today I made a pot of baked beans and a couple loaves of brown bread.

I also canned some quarts of applesauce with the last crates (about 1 bushel) of apples in storage.

I think we'll have the beans and brown bread tomorrow and have cheese blintzes with applesauce tonight for dinner.

Hey, Kel, I thought we'd dodge this event with only rain. The creek was near the top with runoff water when I got up this morning. Then I came out of the shower to a new blanket of snow, and it's still coming down fairly harder. Bummer. :tongue

Thunderstorms and the rain have stopped, temps dropped from 52 at 6 this morning to 32. I haven't heard the forecast so have no idea what is going on this week. :P

Making barley casserole (a vegetarian meal) for dinner. Maybe with some cornbread to go with it.

Sunday was the first preliminary day for our new contemporary church service at 11:00, which is called ENCOUNTER. The house was jam-full because everyone who normally attends the 11:00 service at the biker bar came. The BAR (Born Again Rockers) Praise band were there - drums, sax, guitars, violin, cello. This service at the church will replace the biker bar service starting may 8. The service was just AWESOME and Pastor Quincy led another of his study on the book of Jeremiah.

Still working on plans for the quilt, which I need to get into gear with soon so that I can have it done in time for the wedding.
