People that don't have animals really can't understand the hole they leave. It's been over 2 years since I lost Patches, and it seems like I miss her more as time goes on. There's so many times I wish I had her w/me.

Since we've buried our big white dog, there has been a small white cat hanging around the back farm yard. This cat is feral and lives in the large barn behind us. It just seems that since last Friday, it has started sitting on the barrel near where Titan is buried. I wonder if it is because the robins are there to gather the worms we dug up.

My mother died from pancreatic cancer almost 21 years ago (this May 30). TR's mother died from lymphoma cancer 28 years ago. TR is a cancer survivor - 40 years ago he was treated for breast cancer.

We have had more days of rain than sun this April. There is quite a bit of mud everywhere.

The Amish lumberjacks have a small shed in the back acreage for their 2 draft horses. TR said it doesn't look like it is large enough considering all the rain we have gotten this month. Meanwhile, large stacks of wood are piling up about 15 feet behind the bee hives.

In the farm yeard, the snowdrops bloomed the first week of April, and daffodils bloomed last week. The hawthorne tree broke out into stupendous blooms yesterday.

TR removed the windbreaks we set up late last autumn around the north/nortwest sides of the hives today and cut the grass this morning while the sun was still out.

It looks like the honeybees did not make it through the latest 20 and 30 degree weather. We are still experiencing thunderstorms and high winds, so I have not yet completely opened up the hives to investigate. .....

Kel and the grands had 14 hour power outage due to tornadoes in their area of Texas. Today they are under fire alert.

Due to all the wet weather, have mostly been indoors appliqueing one quilt top. One is just about ready to assemble, quilt and embroider names on the apples.

TR worked 21 hours yesterday. As a result he has today and tomorrow off, works Friday and then is off this week-end, so the hospital won't have to pay OT.

How will you know if the bees didn't make it? Is there a chance they can regroup? Sorry I don't know the proper bee terminology.

Gina, the landlord has 85 acres total, most of them behind the two houses and large barn. About 30 to 40 acres are wooded (part of them are orchards gone wild). He hired some Amish to trim 30 acres. There is a huge mud road going to the back of the property. We can see everything pretty clearly up to a point from our upstairs windows.

I am just guessing about the bees. The last time we had warm, sunshine, little wind a number of bees were hanging outside of the hive getting sun. Then the first week of April we had 20 to 30 temps with about 4 inches of snow and since then, mostly rain. When I went to add sugar & essential oils syrup this past week, I saw more dead than alive. When I put my head up against the side of the hive I didn't hear any humming. I have to wait for sunshine and warm temps to open up the hive.
