ksalvagno's farm journal - Time for change

Good luck with the interview. I'll be up at Meyer in a few weeks to pick up my order of chicks. Maybe I'll run into you there! :D

Thanks. I quit my full time job in 1999 and have been doing the farm all this time. So I'm nervous and excited about it. I'm tired of being home by myself all the time. I actually can go for weeks without seeing anyone but DH when I have alpaca birthing going on. Some weeks I can't even get out to the store, DH has to do it. So it will be a nice change. :D

Gabrielle kidded on 2/9/11. She had 2 bucks. I don't own Gabrielle but the boys are out of my male Categorized. Here are some pics of them:

Gabrielle and her kids - they are all very black, my camera flashed and they are under heat lamps

Both boys are mainly black. The one that looks like he is all black actually has a square patch of white on his stomach. They are nursing and doing well.

Here is a picture of one of my little guys. I had to kick the older kids out into the regular goat area so I put sweater vests on the boys. Unfortunately, the one boy pee'd on his vest so I had to take it off before I could get pictures.

I also have some exciting news (I think). I have an interview on Monday Feb 14 at Meyer Hatchery for a job. It is part time and seasonal so I thought that would be a good way to get back into the working world and they are very close to my house. We will see what happens! :D
Good luck!!! :fl

have goat envy and barn envy. That's okay. It will be my turn someday. Stealing a bunch of ideas from you, since you designed that place really well and know how to improvise to make stuff cheap and versatile. Loved the storage tub goat hut. They looked really content in it.
Sweet babies and so pretty too. :love Great job helping that first one.

Good luck with the interview!!! I'm picking up my new chicks there late April - they seem like really cool folks. :fl

I hope your interview goes well! Your pictures are awesome, I'm glad I found your thread!

I love love love your barn.....sigh. Someday..................

I like what you said about building the barn after knowing what you need.

Karen - so glad you posted the little warming hut idea! We didn't have anything ready since we weren't 'expecting' until the weekend, so I had DH run out and get the supplies and it was ready in a jiffy! What a kid-saver it turned out to be. And cheap too :P

Since I didn't know due dates on these girls, I just had to use what I had on hand. I would love to have some of those warming barrels but DH just doesn't have the time now. But everything seems to be working and little babies are nice and toasty warm. :D

I can't even remember when I last went on an interview. Luckily these interviews will be short. They have a schedule of every 15 minutes from about 1pm to 4pm. So I know my interview won't be long at all.

Went on the Meyer Hatchery interview today. It went well. Short and sweet. I will find out by the end of the week if I got a job or not. So we will see. I was nervous until I got then. Then for some reason I was no longer nervous. If I'm meant to have this job great, if not, that is ok too. I am busy with the farm. :D
