ksalvagno's farm journal - Time for change

I don't know if I could stand it. Plus, it's on W. Broad on the west side of town. The really bad side of town. A very strange place for a TSC.

I agree, I have had to run there a few times on my lunch and I don't really like going to that TSC. It is a very strange location for one...

You could just open your own farm store. :D

I know on Mondays I will be putting chicks into the boxes to be shipped. I may also help out in the store. I guess I will find out on Tuesday. I have to go in this Thursday to sign papers. We have to sign a privacy document and won't be allowed to disclose anything that Meyers considers private. I think they want to be sure and keep out the rescue group nuts that try to find abuse and "expose" it.

It is nice that it is so close to me. It only takes me about 7 or 8 minutes to get there. And it will be nice to see and talk to humans other than DH.

we're all gonna laugh when you cant even hear another person to talk to because of all the PEEPING! ha ha ha ha ha

let us know when you do your best 'hunchback of notre dame' holding you hears and yelling "the PEEPING the PEEPING" - we'll all do it with you.

hee hee hee hee hee!

I don't know if I get any type of discount. Hopefully I will find out Thursday.

Yea, I might have to get ear plugs or something. They hatch around 50,000 chicks for the Monday ship.

congrats on the new job!!!

and congrats on the babies so far, that little black and white spotted doeling is just *drools* but the buckskin buck on the very first page...omg what a little stunner!

Well, I went in today and signed all the papers for Meyer Hatchery. We don't get employee discounts (no one does). I start next Tuesday (first hatch day because Monday is a holiday). At this point I will be working one day a week. Just on Mondays to help pack chicks for shipping. If they like your work, they may have you work some more hours as time goes on. But the gig is only through May which is fine with me. So this is going to work out just fine. I was so worried about how I was going to take care of the farm but there really is nothing to worry about.

I have been getting lots done. Tuesday and Wednesday I cleaned out all goat areas and burned the hay (couldn't get to the garden) and cleaned out the chicken coop. So now everything is clean. I figured I better get that stuff done while it was warm.

The chickens are so happy to be outside. Even when I could open their door, they refused to go outside in the cold. Guess I can't blame them. Even the goats are hanging around under the overhang instead of in the barn.
