ksalvagno's farm journal - Time for change

It has taken me a few days to be able to post this. Gold Dust had twins and the one twin's umbilical cord cut too early and she was born dead (we know because there was no blood in the umbilical cord). Then just a couple hours later, Antinette had a huge buck inside her that couldn't come out vaginally. She ended up getting a C-Section which went well but the large kid tore her uterus and I had to put her down anyway. So I lost 2 females in one evening and got no sleep that night. Two bucks are alive and are both nursing on Gold Dust. I was very lucky that Gold Dust immediately took on Antinette's kid as her own. Very disappointed in the buck year that I'm having and the losses that I have had. DH would be very happy if I just got rid of all the goats and this isn't helping my cause at all.

I'd hate to agree, but you haven't had the best of luck lately! I sure do hope it picks up for you.

Same here.

Sorry that you lost those two today. It is fortunate that you won't have another bottle baby, since Gold Dust accepted the little buck.

Now you have an excuse to keep the little doe you did get though ;)
