When signing any document during this year, do not abbreviate the date. For example, if signing a date for March 14: Do not abbreviate it as 3/14/20. It can then be altered by adding extra digits. For example, 3/14/2019!

When signing by hand I always do a DD, MONTH, YEAR. i.e. 01, January, 2020. People ask me if I'm government, when they see that.

On line not much choice.

i can't imagine any big gain by changing a date to a prior one that way being a huge problem. i hardly write any checks the past several years. automagic bill paying and transfers are working out ok. other than keeping an eye on them to make sure the amounts are right i don't worry about them much.

There's a scam born every minute. While it might not be an issue for every day transactions, an issue could come up where it could have huge legal ramifications.

i suspect if such things were going on the tampering would be noticed as you always keep an original copy when big $ is involved.

Not everyone does, though. So there will probably be some tampering at least until the word gets out that it's going on.

Even the remote possibility is enough reason to eliminate the possibility in the first place by correctly writing the year date.
