liquid facial soap recipe without koh???

Any ideas? I'm asking because in my small little corner of Hickville USA I can't find KOH, lye was hard enough. and I really want a simple recipe that I can tweak for different skin types, if possible using Goats milk. I made one the other day that came out okay but the proportions must be whacked or something screwy. it keep separating. It washes my face great but I don't think it is marketable yet. I have more guinea pigs waiting.

What is KOH?

Potassium Hydroxide that is used to make soap. You can get it from wood ash. Some day I'm going to try that.

You can't saponify oils without KOH or lye. It takes a chemical reaction. You can order it online.

You will get all kinds of hydroxides from wood ashes unless the soil the wood was grown in was rich in Potassium the vast majority of them are going to be sodium. potassium is often subed for Sodium because its salts are more soluble. I suspect that the liquid facial soap would be a cream if sodium was used instead of Potassium.

So there are no recipes that have a liquid soap base that you add to and tweak? Or is there a way to make lye soap into liquid? what I have read about the liquid soap process and koh it seems kind of like a nightmare. does anyone have a realtively simple explanation or good site suggestion?

The only thing I can think of is to turn your bar soap into liquid soap. You have to grate a bar of soap, the finer the better.

Take:

1 cup soap flakes
6 Cups water
1 TBSP vegetable glycerin

Combine everything in a pot and heat on medium-low til the flakes dissolve (stir gently). Then allow it to cool. You may have to adjust the water. Sometimes it will be too thick or too thin. Just add more soap flakes if it's not thick enough.
