I try to buy local but the closest feed store is 16 miles from here. The closest town is 8 miles. Small, expensive grocery store, so I usually drive the 23 miles to the nearest town that has grocery stores, feed, and best of all-my Mom. Other than feed, farm supplies, gasoline, groceries, and diesel for our little tractor, we don't really like to go to town. We do, however, do business at our local butcher, local hardware store, and our local Synergy Co-op. We bought our tractor, chickens, most of our goats, the 2 pigs we raised and my vehicle locally. We get our hay a mile from home and had bought one load of manure from the same neighbor as we didn't have enough of our own yet. We bartered eggs and fresh milk for sawdust from another neighbor, to use as animal bedding. Also, I am super excited that this month our buck goats will be used for breeding for the first time-also for barter. I would love to source bulk feed locally, but haven't yet found it.

Well I seen a lot of cities and taken what the cities got to give.
Then I traveled through the country and decided that's place I'm gonna live.
Now my home is concrete, concrete even above my head.
