Well, went to the chicken swap Saturday and sold dozen fertile runner duck eggs and sold Ozzie the mammoth rooster for $20!!! Woo hoo! No more crowing at 4 am and chasing the children all over the yard. They were getting afraid to go outside to play for fear he would chase them.

$20 for a rooster??? I can't even give mine away! I bet the kids are glad he is gone though,... I just keep mine locked up now.

Wow!!! $20 for a rooster! And a headache gone from your life. Do you have another nicer rooster to take his place or are y'all done with roosters until after you get moved & settled?

Hubby doesn't want to get anymore roos for now, afraid the BIL won't like the crowing.....we'll see. I really want to get some BLRW and I would love to get a roo to go with the hens. He is still saying he wants to build a bigger coop so we'll see.

We close on the loan Thursday morning. We meet with the well guy today and hopefully he can get the well done this week and our friend is going to pour the footers for the trailer this week too. Gonna be rockin' and rollin' here soon!

As far as Ozzie goes, we sold him to a gentleman that looked at his wife longingly and said, "I always wanted a rooster....." She said "how much?" Hubby told her that she could have him for $15. When they found out that the crate didn't come with him they were gonna back out and hubby, quick on his feet says "where do you guys live?" Well, he made them a deal that for $20 we would deliver the roo to their house which was only about 10 minutes away. They were so cute. When we got there and he saw how cute Ozzie was scratching in the woods behind the house he says to me "think she'll let me get some hens now?"

I was selling my duck eggs for $10 a dozen and I think I seriously need to raise my prices, but I didn't know what to charge and I sold them to a teacher for her class project so I felt like I was doing a good thing.

What should I charge for fertile runner duck eggs???

If you are getting $10 and think you can get more go for it! Try $12.

I am only charging $7/dozen, but keep selling out so there WILL be a price increase coming up around here

The only other ad in my area I have seen for duck hatching eggs recently is $1/egg.
