Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

2x4, Lived on a nigi breeding farm (hundreds of goats...omg) and they are escape artists. They also get stuck in everything. Loved coming home to a buck running free :/

I've heard it said that once you get done building your fence for your goats to pour water in it. If you can keep the water in, it will hold the goats.

And I think it was said before - if the head goes through, the body will too. It's true! I've seen it and I still don't believe it :D Goats = contortionists.

:gig So true! I call some of my goats "boneless goats!"

Really, they don't escape that much once you get it figured out. Then the snow comes, gets deep, melts a bit, hardens up, then they all just walk out over your fence....

The closing finally went through! :ya You might want to have the fence height sized for normal goats, just in case you ever get a full sized one. It would still be versatile for other critters too.

Horse fencing would be tall enough, but I don't know about the size of the holes.

As long as she sticks with a diamond weave horse fence or a 2x4 welded wire I think she will be good.

Another fencing thought is taller chain link. While that sounds REALLY expensive my D1 has gotten a lot of that for FREE or very low cost on Craigslist. People replace it for appearance, usually with fancy wood fences or vinyl around here. Their trash is our treasure. ;)

Well, we got the fence posts dug and corner posts in yesterday and now I'm sick. The temps were upper 50s low 60s yesterday but the wind was howling and it felt more like 40s. I went to bed last night with a sore throat and woke up with a sore throat and a stuffy nose. I am using saline spray for the nose and Throat Coat tea with honey and lemon for the throat.

Problem with the fence is that we got 7ft posts and hubby put them 3 ft in the ground so that leaves us with exactly 4 ft to put the fence on. He wants to put a top rail around the whole thing but I would rather not and spend the extra money on the 2x4 no climb horse fence. He still wants to go with the 4x4 goat fence. Gonna be a fight on that one. Our breeder uses 5ft 2x4 fencing with a top rail but hubby says I'm wrong. Yeah, let me go back and look at the pictures on that one.

Kids are supposed to sing at church this morning but if I don't feel any better I might stay here. We are going to try to get the fence posts set today. TSC doesn't have any 48inch fencing so we will have to order it. I tried to get to the bank yesterday but they closed at noon and I was 12 minutes late. That will have to wait till Monday. I just want to go back to bed but my son is blowing a whistle.....

You can compromise and still save a bit of money by using a "top rail" that is an electric fence wire! We always do that on our horse fencing it keeps them from leaning over the top and smashing down the wires.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :love

I'm still sick but we got out there in the wind and got the fence posts done. Gotta go into town today and deposit that whopper check, it's making me nervous having it in the house.

I'll try to get some pics this afternoon when I get home...thanks for all the input guys!
