In Progress Shots
When we moved in we pretty much ripped out everything disgusting so we currently live in a construction site until things get done. First order of business really is the upstairs since Daina and her young daughter Niobi will be coming to stay over the summer. Forgive me for the mess! Nobody cleans on the weekends unless we have company so its kind of a huge mess-ola. Also my brother and I are in different rooms than our normal ones because of painting going on so the sewing room is where my brother is staying and its a mess, and I'm in his room hence the blue walls and flowering bedspread
Front of the house, the porch trim isn't done... we're changing it to something bulkier and the end post has to be replaced as well as the gutters on the porch. All the siding will be done in a couple years, greeny coloured likely, vinyl board and batten on the porch side of the house. The brick side is getting repointed, and that enormous fugly window ripped out and replaced. We currently use the covered porch door as our front door but that porch is getting screened in this summer and our second porch light going up so it can be a screened in, bug free, eating area (my dad has awful allergic reactions to skeeter bites! he swells up huge lol). The door on the brick side will be reinstated, and replaced with a 3/4 glass door with the mullions to match the other door (the other one is a 1/2 glass, 3/4 glass here to act as a big window as well).

Beautiful. It's a 5 burner with the middle, as I explained to BBH re: plastic utensils, a griddle (there is also a trivet for it to make it a huge burner lol). As I said before, my family has a huge collective hate of oak, which these cabinets are SOLID oak. Hate with a passion. We're looking at hickory cabinets in a barn door style (tongue and groove with the Z brace on the back) and we'll be using restoration hammered hinges which we'll be buying at Legacy, a wonderful store in Cobourg, Ontario that sells restoration and antique hinges, etc. The hinges are hand made in Quebec to order! The cupboards above the window are going and the window is getting enlarged, the cabinets above the stove are going too and we're getting a real nice big range hood, and that cabinet in the far left at the top where its gone is cause of the frozen pipes LOL we pulled apart the kitchen to find where they were freezing. That big cabinet is probably going too and being replaced with more worktop space and an upper cabinet.
Future home of the pantry, we have an under the stairs cabinet we use for dog foods cause its the only one the cat cant get in lol, and theres a microwave set up on the other side which is getting taken out and replaced with a marble counter and open shelving. The microwave is moving into the future Island in the middle of the kitchen! We'll put a light in there and a door over the opening too. See that tea towel hanging up? I was super unthrilled because Costco had these ones with chickens on them that had all the names of breeds and the chicken and stuff but they sold out and never carried them again!
so we got the apple ones instead lol.
Living room.. yeah what can we say about this LOL. Where the TV is is where our woodburner will be going, on the other side of that is an old bricked up window opening but the big header is still in there so we're putting it there. It'll be styled, hopefully, after the inglenook style (obviously a false one). If you don't know what that is, google it
We even have some old barn beams from the driveshed to use as a mantel.
I didn't provide befores of the downstairs full bath, but here is a glimpse at the shower... eek is right!
My room, the colour is a Behr colour and its called "Hush Pink" and in the mornings it looks cream with the morning light on it, and in the evenings sort of a ballet dancer pink. Beautiful! I only have a photo of the alcove, it was "created" when the old owners put a bathroom essentially IN my room lol. I made the desk.
I'll update with photos of what gets done when it gets done. Likely the first set of photos to come will be of the painted and trimmed out hallway, then the hardwood flooring, etc etc.
By the way, is anyone going to be seeing the new Alice and Wonderland movie? I'm in love with the Avril Lavigne song for it, called Alice. It looks fantastic, the movie itself. Right now though I'm super annoyed that I have to wait so darn long for the next Vampire Diaries episode -_-
your visionary ideas, but fail to see any green velvet wallpaper in your pics. There is also no brown PLYWOOD cabinets with chipped paint and loose hinges that fall off when you open the door. My house did not come with a greasy blow up stove like yours did... It had no stove at all. We only had a spewing dishwasher and a homemade chicken coop of an air conditioner complete with a "Y" breaker switch compliments of Frankenstein.
