Lupin Farm ~ Updated photos of the goat pen in progress

We got a good deal on a 6 month old stick built shed on craigslist and it is being delivered Thurs, we want to jack it up a bit on blocks so that we can put lean tos on both sides.....bound to have some shingles left over from that job.....so, I claimed them for my coop! We had metal on it and I'm sure that thing looked like a gigantic flying saucer going down the road when it came off at 45MPH!!! Just glad no one got hurt..... :D

Okay so far today we have pulled the roof off the chicken shed..

And put the frame for the new one up..

We still have to put the plywood up and make it as predator proof as possible for the night and clean out the shed and just generally clean up the area lol.

Awesome! We have the same gothic fence! Ours is painted white but needs to be repainted badly.

Here it is at the end of the day. It is far from being completely predator proof, so we're going to use our rock trick tonight and set rocks up on the sill. Mostly its predator proof though and Kevin and I will take turns staying up tonight to ensure the chickens are fine overnight. I would be finished with the hardware cloth and all that but I ran out of washers and the hardware store closed at like 4pm so I'm out of luck tonight for it and cannot justify a trip to Lowes.

Side View, the triangle openings at the side have hardware cloth in them on the inside. We are going to be siding them and leaving smaller openings for our vents as I had originally planned on putting one large triangular door on but it interferes with the roof line. Oh well.

And just for fun, Cruickshanks who is enjoying life as an INDOOR kitty :) It seems we now have 3 indoor/outdoor kitties.

There is still much to do on the chicken house. I need to paint it still and install the soffits as well as put the roofing tin on and secure the roof vent. Lottssss to do. Plus moving it and putting an addition on it.

Oh and not sure what to do with the skunk we caught last night in our havahart. He's a small bugger, he's down by the barn. Mum wants to poison him but we'd have to get close to do that and while he ran out of his special cologne a while ago, it seems he's back in action again (judging by the stink around the barn LOL). I say drown him since thats the only other method we have (no guns here) and that has worked well for us in the past. Thing is, I attached a nice long rope onto the trap BUT he has pulled the whole freaking thing in with him so we'd have to figure out how to attach another rope to it OR wrap him up in a tarp like a piece of candy (REALLY SMELLY CANDY) and hope for the best.

Already caught his litter mate (they're older babies, no parents around) and dispatched him.

You might want to start a new thread about how to take care of the skunk situation. Plenty of people have been in similar situations and may have good tips.

Girl, that is one of the cutest chicken houses I have ever seen! I would love to do something like that but we put ours up on stilts and it is about 4 feet off the ground. Don't tell hubby but I'm buying 10 fertile eggs to put under my broody tomorrow!!! :hide Someday I'll have a bigger coop!

I can't decide what I like more. The beautiful blue skys, the fence or your coop!!!

Everything looks great!!!

Okay, the Skunk has been dispatched. We are leaving in about 20 minutes to pick up April. I'll post photos when we get home!
