OMG! I miss those (hinged) box tortoises! They used to show up about now back when I lived in TX. (They love bananas, strawberries and worms!)

We've got three saved for the turtle races next month. We got two out of the yard and one out of the road. Last year my ds' turtle won overall and ds won $100 !!

In the 60's I was at my grandmother's house and found a box turtle. I turned it over and it had my uncle's initials and the year 1937 carved in it's bottom shell. Wierd!

Better be careful, turtles are considered powerful fertility symbols in some cultures!
