You are more than free to copy what I do... when I get a call from some unknown number. I answer "wkgb talk radio, you're live and on the air!". Just like she says, it works 99% of the time.

Told my Mom to answer suspected spam numbers as "Hello! (Such and such) police department. How may I direct your call?"

Hubby used to answer "Bill's mortuary. You stab 'em we slab 'em."

spam calls have been down quite a bit in the past year, but we don't get that many.
