Okay, this is more serious than most of my songs, but...
This song is a nod to my background with the use of Randy Newman's song "I Love L.A." and is dedicated to this forum.

I'm including a link to the original just in case anyone singing along needs to be refreshed to the tune, I'm not sure how popular this song was outside of Los Angeles:

Savingdogs gets up on a podium to sing:

This first part is slow and bored sounding....

Hate the big City
It's full and it smells
And all the people dressed like magazines
Let's leave Los Angeles to the earthquakes
That town's a little bit too shaky
For this ol beach bum now

Anna Raven playing drums kick in and tempo gets upbeat

Running out to catch the loose goats
With a big ol ridgeback at my side
Self sufficient ideas
flying round in my head

Flip on the net, my mouse in hand
I need some ideas to get up to speed
Don't let the internet stop!
Im gonna read it, till I can read it no more

(Now everyone sing along)
Through Backyard chicken we were born
From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
Cause were self sufficient all the time
Cause we share our SS ways

I love S.S. (all shout ,We love it)
I love S.S. (all shout, We love it)

Go ask Freemotion
Or go ask Bee.
Ohio Farm Girl will get you up to speed.
But just be careful
You might end up with goats

Lets cheer them! (We love it)
Wifezilla! (We love it)
Denim Deb! (We love it)
Java, Hen, BB, AL, BB, AR, FF, etc (We love it, we love it, we love it!)

I love S.S.
I love S.S.
(We love it)

Any names not shouted out were I couldn't get them to fit with the rhythm, you three-syllable ladies.

In this instance, filk means to parody a song. There is a kind of filk music but the way I'm using the word, it means to steal a song's rhythm but change the words.

Hubby and I have always played around with song lyrics (singing them wrong and badly to suit what happens in our life). I have made a few of these silly songs up mostly on OFG's journal, to go along with the stories of what is happening in the threads.
