I didn't get to read the whole thing, but today I was wondering if there is a link between MSG and skin cancer. MSG binds to melanin...

Haven't gotten a chance to search and see if it has been studied.

Abi's friend Dar died of skin cancer. She never had aspertame as far as I know. She stayed out of the sun, was pale, and had a high carb diet.

There is a boat load of evidence over the last 30 years tying carbohydrate consumption to cancer. One of my favorite authors is writing a book on it now. The aspertame connection.... :hu

That was a great article!

It actually addressed and answered my question about MSG and naturally occurring glutamates that I posted yesterday.

Thanks!

my only issue is there aren't good studies done on most of this. it's 90% anecdotal with a few haphazard studies done that are more politically biased than real science.

in a country that allows uneducated juries to decide what is "true" and "scientifically proven", there isn't any real hope for real science and studies that actually prove what is going on.

personally, i think aspartame tastes like poo and it gives me headaches. good enough for me. lol.

just like eating low carb makes me feel better and have more energy.

i'm still waiting on conclusive studies on most things.

I do know that doctors are starting to tell women diagnosed with MS that their symptoms may virtually disappear if they cut out all artificially sweetened drinks.
A coworker of mine was diagnosed, the Dr put her on a whole foods diet. Not only did she lose a LOT of weight, her symptoms are getting better.
I keep telling my MIL. She's addicted to diet pepsi. And that's the way she says it too. As in like smoking. That's a start I guess.
I agree with Abi though on the taste. It just tastes wrong :sick

Thanks for passing this along!

Hey Noobie.....my BIL & SIL use diet sodas to mix their daily cocktails. They think I am nuts for saying that I would prefer that my kids drink real sugar if they are going to have a soda. They don't get why I wont let my kids have their diet drinks. :smack

Did you read the paper? The studies Dr Baylock convinced me that aspertame is a dirtier word than I thought contributing to lymphoma and leukemia due to its change to formaldehyde in the body

 I mean, I really shouldn't laugh, but somehow its funny to me in a most pathetic way, but as a hospice nurse I have seen time and again families spooning in diet soda into their loved ones as they lie in bed just about actively dying.....its their last request!

problem is it was their always every day request forever since it crossed their paths god knows how many years ago and in some cases probably had a lot to do with why they were laying their dying of cancer...... just little observations nurses make.

I have a few for french fries and other nasty foods too. The addictions follow one right up to the grave.

"Blaylock has retired from neurosurgery and has taken up a career opposing science-based medicine and promoting pseudoscience-based medicine and supplements that he sells under the label Brain Repair Formula. He suggests that his supplements can treat and prevent such diseases as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. He asserts that his formula "will maximize your brains ability to heal and reduce inflammation." The rest of the scientific community seems oblivious to these claims, which are not based on large-scale clinical trials. Blaylock also sells hope to cancer patients by encouraging them to believe he has found the secret to prevention and cure.5"

Oh..and he also thinks thymerisol causes autism. That puts him in my QUACK file. Pass me a diet Pepsi.
