LOL--can you imagine the trouble with that system? LOL

we would all want basically the same things, yet SO MUCH would go without.

Hmm...good thing there are others to direct our monies..LOL

XPC---what medical coverage can you afford? Just wondering, because for me it is the biggie on "leaving the system" or hanging in there. Medical coverage is what scares the hound out of me big time.
I never made a lot of money, between $40k to $60k over the last 20 years with less than $20k the first 10 years, but spent and bought wisely instead. I paid less for this house then most people owe on their car, 5 years ago I canceled my cable and cell phone and bought this house instead.

Unfortunately you are right about the medical insurance - I have nothing but a shovel and a prayer book. Being single and living in the middle of nowhere insurance is kinda moot for me, a catastrophic injury or heart attack would not be survivable and would be several years before the $100 a year property taxes would get anybodies attention.

$100/year property taxes?!? We live in the country, but ours are edging closer to $5000/year. Property taxes and health insurance alone keep me working.

xpc--you're right about it not taking huge earnings to be able to do what you're doing. Good for you!

yea I hear you XPC

for me, being on my own would mean chances I would be willing to take definitely. having a 4 yr old daughter there are chances I can not feel that I want to take at this time.

You are very smart to live within your means and keep all your money and time for yourself! And your plan sounds like it worked out well for you!

In the middle of nowhere?--what state are you in? Just wondering. Do you have any neighbors at all? Not near a town?
