I wanna farm
It was a year Sunday that I got my first two chickens and began this crazy self sufficient obsession. As I look back on it, I can't believe what I have done and what I have learned. So in one year I have:
1. Built a chicken coop, managed to keep all my chickens alive and got the BEST eggs.
2. Began adding and using the neglected compost pile
3. Planted a garden and sucessfully grew tomatoes, banana peppers, strawberries, and a few cucumbers.
4. Trapped a possum and a racoon outside my garden and chicken coops (threw a 2X4 at another possum).
5. Learned to make bread from scratch.
6. Learned to knit.
7. Made laundry detergent and dish washing soap.
8. Learned to can and made pickles, jellies/jams, and soups.
9. Started a DIY library and a binder of other usefull information.
I can only imagine what next year's list will include! Bigger garden? Homemade soap? Homemade vinegar? Spinning wheel?
