Busy weekend. We finally finally finally did the year's FIRST mowing and trimming of grass and weeds. The goats were super-happy every time the lawnmower bag got emptied on them. (Literally, ON them ... Hawkey our wether refused to move just because more grass was raining down on him!). There's now a clear place to walk from my front yard to the back, perfect for when a customer comes to get her eggs out of my garage.
Haven't seen the snake since last week. HOPE HOPE HOPE that my girls found it and ate it.
But boy howdy am I sore! I haven't mowed since I was a kid. I'm allergic to grass but I knew that if I didn't help, it wouldn't get done. Seriously, Hubby is the slowest person in the world! So I pushed the gas mower while Hubby rode our neighbor's riding mower. Two acres. My son brought us ice water periodically.
Saturday we took a break and went to town for the farmer's market. Bought a few cantaloupe (YUM!) and some huge yellow squash that will be going into the dehydrator. Took the puppy... sure was a HIT with everyone! Bought some much-needed chicken feed and oats at the feed store. Home then back to chores.
But durned if my Husband didn't drive off last night and STILL didn't unload the feed from his car! Guess I'll have to get some more today or tomorrow since he won't be home until late Wednesday night.
OH ... get this! First ever white egg! We bought 2 leghorn chicks in MArch and have been watching them grow up. Not the most personable but are kinda pretty. While sitting out Saturday night getting the puppy used to the chickens, we saw one being "taken care of" by my rooster. Sunday, there was a white egg in the middle of the coop. WOohoo!
This was one of our better weekends. Hubby and Kid getting along much better. Hubby making time to listen to Kid. Was glad about that.
Then I found a HUGE spider while I was moving hay around last night. Ran up to tell Hubby (yes, I'm a big girl) and expected him to come out right away to help me kill it. But no. It was another half hour before he ambled out. Of course, by that time, it was gone. I got ticked. He got ticked. And the yelling commensed.
Hey, at least he didn't take it out on my Kid last night.
First time for everything.
But I now have a huge headache.
Gonna go eat a cantaloupe.
