Simple, if you start your own plants, start them at a time that would make it so they're not ready to harvest until September. Same w/anything you plant from seeds. If I get this job I want next summer, I'm not going to WANT to come home and work. I won't be getting done until 4:00 or 4:30, I forget which. And, I'll still have to run out to the farm and care for my animals. So, the last thing I'm going to want to do is come home and can.
 
Sounds good. Giving it some thought.

Hubby home with u-haul. Hooked up freezer and it seems to be starting to get cold. As we were getting the last few things off the truck, Hubby casually mentions that he probably won't get any money now. I said, "WHAT?!?! Because you brought home the freezer, a few books, and an air compressor? WTH?!?!"

He said his sis didn't actually say that. That they probably won't get much for the property.

Okay. That doesn't make sense. Supposedly, there are several people making offers on the house. Plus the thousands of dollars worth of major big-time tools, tractor, van, ford pickup, and much more. ETA: [Probably over $30,000 worth of tools alone.] Oh, and I found lots of stock certificates and deeds to two other properties in his paperwork!

I thought this was settled.

Hubby's gone to return the truck. I'm online to check the bank account. Probably negative. All of these trips to FIL's farm has cost us more money than we had. Even dipping into emergency fund and feed fund from all the chickens we sold ... just to pay for the truck and gas for this week, and to cover the mortgage payment.

So much for getting propane. Hope the cold weather holds off for another couple of months because right now we have only enough for a couple days of cold weather.

My leg it getting worse. Have it up, on ice, while I type.

Oh, and I have a mammogram tomorrow.

UGH.
 
I agree with bb on this, I know you don't want to make waves but it seems at this point it's a new story at every turn and it sounds incredibly fishy to me...

And you can good advise, possibly even free, to the point that you may be able to sue for rights and win.
Common! Its the ex wife! Why does she get a say?
 
If t'were me, I would cut losses and back out. Might be their goal, but I hate financial stress. I would rather not get a potential gain than deal with it all.

Ex wife has NO legal leg to stand on, no part of this deal at all. Act NOW. You might think you can't afford one, but in this instance, you can't afford to be without one.
 
This is a very common thing in families. Ours had a big rift when my grandma died. Everyone thought she had money, but she really didn't. So everyone was mad at everyone else for taking what she didn't have. But everyone wanted their piece of the nonexistent pie.

Might be a little of the same here. Properties are not selling, stuff is not selling for top dollar anymore. I'm not saying that everything is worthless, but what used to look like a large estate may have dwindled or not have much resale value. I'd make sure there is something there before you go chasing it.

what she said. its a good idea to have a healthy dose of curiosity to go with the familial anger. not saying your anger is misplaced, because it sounds like they've been a load of cattle feed lot dung for long before your FIL passed, but good to find out why this is happening. just because the tools cost alot to purchase, doesn't mean they would resell for the same price, or even half that. and something might have a high value collectors but in this economy? it's probably going to be awhile before you find someone willing to plunk that cash down. Just my opinion though, and not necessarily correct. :hugs support to you either way :)
