Boy howdy ... life can get complicated and oh so busy! The triplets born on Dec 5 are growing rapidly and already have horn-lets! Very used to the collar and will start leash-training soon if we don't sell them first. They still sleep in the garage but every morning I "herd" them to the outdoor girl pen and bring them back inside at dusk.
The other doe had her the day after Christmas. She had twins, one boy and one girl. Both are mostly black with a few patches of of white. Super healthy and very sweet.
Posted a notice in the community mail room asking for Christmas trees. Have had an overwhelming response: 8 trees as of today! Wow! One in the boy pen, one in the girl pen, and bits in the inside girls pens. The babies love them, even the youngest.
We decided to change from nigerian dwarf goats because my hands really hurt milking them. The nipples/teats are so small! I handled it last summer, but with the increase of my skin problem and my hands getting worse, muscle-wise, I just can't do it this time. So we're selling the girls and all 5 babies, and gonna get 2 SMALL nubian does, in milk. Anybody in the Denver area interested in perhaps a trade?
I'll post pix of the babies and does when I can get to it.
Meanwhile, we're getting a lot of progress done on our little 2 acre farmette. The dog run is completely finished, and the puppy already uses his tiny poop-spot exclusively. I also fenced in a small area there for potted tomatoes. We're almost done with the backyard raised-bed vegetable garden, except we still need to build some more boxes/beds. Then we'll fence off the flower/herb garden and make 4x4 boxes for there. Already outlined on the ground the new buck pen (3 x larger than where they are now!).
Major progress. All while being sick, getting the kid back in the school habit, working on my writing, and planning things.
So tired.
Hope my energy picks up soon.
