I don't mean todays chores either...I mean your next three things to put you a step closer to a more SS lifestyle?

For me it would be :

1)Find a couple of used oil lamps

2) Buy a few food grade buckets for storage (been meaning to do this and just have not)

3) Implement our weekly 'power down' nights. We will pick a night where everyone will be home (teens work & DS has football) and we will shut down all power sources at 4ish and make dinner with out power (maybe sandwiches...this should inspire my boys to make me that darn solar oven I have been wanting) make a big fire and hang out together playing games in front of the fire....no computer, no music, no tv, no game boys, no laundry running.....etc.

So what is on your list of upcoming projects?

enjoy the ride

1) work on getting raised beds- due to buried redwood logs, no topsoil and ever present gophers, this is the only way to get production.

2)change part of the the front "yard" (actually about 10 feet x 40) into an herb garden from flowers and shrubs.

3) try to figure out a way to store food supplies that is more easily managed so I don't need to take out piles of things to put the newest things in the back.

Dacem this is a good question. I will name three things FOR ME. My SS is going to be different than other peoples. Some of you here are so much further along than me. Money is a big hindrance....not enough of it, lol.
1 get better at processing EVERYTHING
2 enlarge my garden next year
3 buy some peach trees
