need advice on gait/mechanics/muscles re: butt and heel pain

Stretching every morning sure has helped DH. He had a lot of the same complaints as you. Now when he starts feeling the hurt, he stops and takes the time to do the stretching again. It's made a big difference to a guy that thought it wouldn't do much good.

Sorry you're hurting. :( Sucks when there's so much to do.

I dealt with plantar fascitis for months before. Ouch. Wish I'd been able to talk to Free.

One thing I noticed back then was that cold air was blowing on my feet at night. So, I started putting a blanket on the bottom of the bed to keep my feet warmer and the muscles didn't tighten up as much. I also rubbed my feet in the morning, before getting out of bed - to loosen the muscles up. If I'd known those exercises the healing would have probably gone faster. Thanks for the tips. :)
