One of my grandmoms is having horrendous back issues.
She's seeing specialists and everything, but I want to make her some supplemental things that might help her healing.

She has spinal stenosis, curvature and a slipped disc.
It's pretty bad, she's had to get epidurals a couple times. She said she can't even move without the pain meds, but she hates them because they make her "slow and dumb" (her words!).

What foods/herbs can I get together that would reduce inflammation and speed healing?

I was thinking about taking her my beef and veggie stew made with oxtail stock. I figured all that good connective tissue in the broth would be supportive.
I don't know what else, though. :hu

Salmon oil and vitamin E are a good anti-inflammatory for chronic conditions.

If it is muscle pain, ice (or cool) the area before applying heat works well. The icing stops the muscle from contracting, and the heat relaxes it.

I don't know if there is much that can be done at this point but I have found the following products helpful for back pain and she might want to take the tissue repair orally too, as they make it in pills also, but the oinment has comfrey in it which is good for the bones and connective tissue.

I have had two significant back injuries this year. Both caused a lot of pain. I took tramadol for one of them and it sent me to the hospital with visual field disturbances. they though I was having strokes!

This is a rub on that I found so incredibly helpful. Made the difference between sleeping and not sleeping and it is much better than the products you find in a pharmacy

good prices at this above site

and I would combine it with this:
http://www.drchristophers.com/ointments/complete-tissue-bone-2-ointment.html

and this above is the one that comes in pill form too

and this page will tell you why but I would purchase at the top link for a better price: http://www.drchristophers.com/ointments/cayenne-heat-4-ointment.html

I currently have a client with spinal stenosis and I give her a massage weekly mostly focusing on the neck and back. I use these rubs for her and after applying the ointment I put a hot pack over it for about 15 minutes. Don't make your pack too hot though as the cayenne fires things up more than anticipated.

I second the Dr. Christopher's Complete Bone and Tissue - pills and ointment! The ointment is our go-to boo-boo fixer and I just started the pills to enhance my chiropractic adjustments, as I have some degeneration. I found it cheap at www.myvitanet.com last week - I use them because they are local to me, but they have all around great service and prices
