I got directed to this site by a member on the BYC. I have been on the BYC for almost two years.

We are very much involved in the farm thing and food storage and such.

We have been preparing for "the worst case scenario" for a few years now.

Have seen a buch of wonderful ideas now that I know the site exists !!!

Glad to be here.

We like chickens here too!

I'm thinking of guinea fowel too because of our tick problem
We don't have coops built yet and I'm having a hard time visualizing how to fit them in with other chickens....

I've had 3 ticks on me so far this spring and one bit.... but not bad. Its a constant worry.... and all this beautiful natural landscape around us, that I so loved when we bought the property, I just want to cut it all down right now!

Yep, I have the Guinea Fowl affection. I too have around 35 birds. I only have a few whites, piebalds, lavenders and purples.

The rest are pearls. Howeve, lately I have been getting "jumbo and french" Guineas. These birds are supposedly sterile,. but they make a great addition to the flock.

My sis has Royal Purple, Lavender, Blue, Dundotte, Cameo and a few Pearls. She had one Pie for several years and that bird was actually her favorite but unfortunately she went to hide a nest and never returned. :(

My sis has NO chickens! Which I think is funny. Only guinea fowl and ducks.

What other creatures to you own?

We have 7 keets right now. They're for my DH. I hate guinea fowl :hide

ok, don't hate them, but have no strong love for them either.... :hide

My DH wants to keep 1 male and 2 females, hatch their eggs, and sell the keets.

I've only had on guinea hen here and we gave her back to the person who swore we needed her. She was a nightmare in our suburban neighborhood.
