I was wondering because I almost need more ACV. What I have does have a mother in it, but it is pretty old. The Kombucha vinegar isn't quite as acidic as the ACV, I don't think.
ok hold up a minute. If you leave the kombucha to long it turns into vinegar??? So I guess I should check mine.
Can you use the vinegar for anything? If it is vinegar do I just take my nice big new scooby and put it in new tea? What about the adding 10 percent of current brew? How do you do that if it's turned?
I tasted mine. It was vinegar. It was almost 2 weeks fermenting instead of one, and it was well past drinking. So, I just removed the scoby and put new tea in with it and capped off the vinegar jar. It isn't as strong as the ACV, but it is definately vinegar.
A bit of vinegar mixed into other stuff was a classic refreshing drink used on the farm.....remember Laura Ingalls Wilder's books and the hay making drink that Caroline made with vinegar? So you can drink your vinegary kombucha, just dilute it more with something tasty.
