Yeah I can't fit more birds in where the Orpingtons are, but when we put them all in the big coop maybe we'll try putting the Orpingtons in first. We usually try to introduce critters on neutral territory, unfortunately I don't have an available neutral place right now!
 
Maybe moving them into the big coop at the same would help? Thinking if they are distracted by the change of scenery and not yet territorial, they may get along a bit better. We can hope!

Adding new chickens overnight, so they all wake up together in the mornings is said to help too.
 
Yeah we've always plopped chickens in the coop at night and they've gotten over it. But we'd always had big, mostly docile chickens. The dark cornish and easter eggers are, in different ways, not docile! They won't be living with the orpingtons as adults anyway. We will have 3 groups of chickens, with a roo in each group. It'll be based mostly off personality, and then we'll swap things up if we want certain breeds/mixes. The dorkings and orpingtons will live together, the Cornishes will live alone, and the "big coop" will have all our current adults in it with our Dominique roo (who has been so well behaved lately!) the easter eggers will likely be sold. I think thst covers everyone.

I love my EEs :lol: the entire 4 days I have had them:hide BUT, I also have little Velociraptors in the icelandics. WOW do they move like them. They are small, quick and crazy. I want to add in a few other larger breeds to enjoy lol. But the EE's are in no way as bad as those Icelandics... I just thought because they were over the week mark when I got them they were unhandled. :smack
 
No we don't really, but we like big heavy, calm birds. Now I knew EE's weren't a big bird but I didn't know they were so darn flighty!

Our other birds- dominiques, dorkings, jersey giants, NH's and our random ones... All big, docile birds that stay where I put them! Lol
 
Very true!!! I am concerned about that but we most likely will free range them during the day and lock em in a coop at night.
 
Yeah I'm sure you'll love them! I just have a preference for the big birds! Especially if they ever do have to be caught, they're a little slower lol! Plus more meat on them!
 
About to get hit with a pretty bad sounding thunderstorm... Hoping it'll go around us but the sky's pretty dark!
