NH Homesteader's journal

She said her ewes are about 150 lbs. I have 3 breeds to get more info about after glancing through the book she let me borrow. One of which is the Corriedale. I'm going to get some lamb from her to try also.

Icelandic wool is scratchy, good at protecting you from the elements but more of an outerwear quality.

I'm hungry for some lamb...might have to see if I can find lamb shanks on sale. I think that's my favorite cut - even though it's a "poorer" quality cut. It's just so darn flavorful. I cook it in the crockpot with lots of garlic and red wine.... YUM! :drool

My little dude Clifford playing on the milk stand. He really wants to be my friend. My stinky, pee covered friend.

I hope so! He's so sweet. I love my mini alpines. I only have gotten them from one place so I don't know if she has particularly friendly goats or if it's a breed thing, but they're just so sweet and funny.

There is a spinner's guild in the next county. I might look into it some day........ But that would require me learning how to spin, buying a spinning wheel, buying wool sheep, learning to knit and crochet......you see where this is going.....LOL

You on the hunt, when the time comes, for breeding sheep? Or a wether or two? I don't know nuttin' bout no sheep! I like critters that can reproduce, but if not - they gotta taste good. I guess any kinda sheep could do the 'taste good' thing...
