Non toxic weed killer

We get a flyer from our real estate agent once a month. This issue had something I am going to try tomorrow.

Into a spray container---
pour 4 litres of white vinegar
add one cup table salt
add 4 tablespoons dish detergent ( sunlight works best)
Swirl to combine--do not shake

On a windless day, spray unwanted weeds/growth. Remember, even natural weed killers like this one will kill any plant. Spray carefully around trees, shrubs and other garden or bedding plants- be particularly careful around lawn edges.

When I spray a weed killer, I carry a big piece of cardboard to place between the weeds and the desired plant. Sort of a portable protective wall. Of course, on a non-windy day.

That mix does work...sort of. I find you have to really use a lot. I am going to try agricultural vinegar this year.

WZ- Where do you get agricultural vinegar? I assume it is just a higher molar acetic acid?

I tried that mixture and others. it didn't work for me. Wilted the weed, but never truly killed it and like WZ said you had to use alot and hit the weeds a few times.

I read just use salt. high dose mixture and I made a stout batch. It didn't work either. same as above with most of the weeds just spotted with spots but never truly died.

Well, hubby mixed it up, adn sprayed the driveway. Time will tell it if works or not. The whole time he was spraying, dd and I were in the front garden, and he is saying--I hope this stuff works, I be really happy if it works. i told him if it didn't, we were only out about $3.

Four hours later, the dandelions are starting to wilt, and the stray grass stuff is turning a different colour and wilting. Hubby was getting a little excited that it might work., ....... I'll keep ya posted.

I've been told that hot boiling water does the trick for those pesky weeds that grow up between the cracks in driveways and sidewalks. Anyone tried it?

We do this and it works well

Just need to scrape the dead bits out a few days later.
