I AM the boss goat! But boy, did she give me a look this morning. Wooo, if looks could kill... "You are not my mama, you did not use enough peppermint oil & you did not massage me long enough. Kindly remove your hands. NOW!" Spoiled little brat... :P

We've been drinking milk in coffee for years now, ever since DH helped me kick my creamer habit. Yick! So yummy, I can't wait for goat milk yogurt.

I paid for the lumber on the stand, just paid for labor with blueberries. Still can't complain, most of the lumber was scrap :)
 
Woohoo!!!! You go, girl! See if you can get your dh to take a picture of you milking, and I'd love to see your milking stand. Save some blueberries to go into that yogurt!
 
I sure will as soon as my hook-on feeder comes in (Ordered one from Hoegger since I can't seem to find one locally) He built the stand somewhat from the plans on Fias Co. I still have three blueberry plants, although my Premier is not looking well at all... The tips look burnt?
Right now we're tag teaming her :P Jamey's holding the feed bowl & adding feed as needed, I'm washing, squeezing & dipping.

Got a quart last night, 1-1/2 quarts this morning! I do believe we are getting used to each other. Either that or that Monday full of milk convinced her it was better to behave. I hated to see her like that, but what do you do?

I milked out her left half this morning, and almost did her right, but my left hand is not as strong(I milk facing towards her rear). I will get there. We did figure out that I need to snatch the milk bucket & dip her quick when she stops eating. Cause that means she is ready to get down and gives me about a 1 minute warning to get ready :lol:

Shadow is about to be weened, we're giving her one feeding (she's been bottlefed and won't nurse) per day until this weekend. She's almost 3 months old. DD gets such a kick out of running around the yard & getting Shadow to chase her. Of course Lucky chases after Shadow, so its a little train of giggling, bleating, galloping cuteness.

ETA: I don't know how I forgot to tell ya'll about it, but I have bees!! The friend who built my stand is a beekeeper with lots of extra hives & supers. He brought one out to my place week before last and set it up. First few days, nothing. Then a few scouts showed up, next thing I know there is a steady stream of workers going in & out. I think its in a good spot, gets morning sun, afternoon shade, plus the bee-lines go around our active areas. When I called my mom to tell her the news, she said the owners of the derelict house next door had been spraying trying to kill the hive in the back wall of the house :ep WHY!?!? :smack

So anyways, their idiocy has become my gain. :D I also told my friend about it so he may come & remove some if he can.

Finish out her left side with your right hand, that should work. The more they like you, the more milk they give! Mya has been known to suddenly give another pint if she hears dh's voice, even if I think I am done milking! :P
 
I ended up swapping, but very shortly after I switched my hand, she stopped eating. Hurry!
She may have had another half pint or so in her right half, so she should be fine.
 
:lol: That is why my milking stool is a bucket with a lid, filled with spare alfalfa pellets! Sometimes Mya is quite the Hoover!
