. . .32 million "excess" single males .

And so what do you think the "solution" has been for those families who have a guy who can't find a mate? Those same parents who decided they would only have a boy are now paying to KIDNAP a woman for their son! Unbelievable!

I thought this was an interesting story and I didn't hear it on the mainstream media (I heard it on BBC), so I just wanted to pass it along to you all.

Nice. I guess I should just be glad I don't live in China.

Maybe somewhere there is a market for mail order husbands :)

Not that I'll be ordering one anytime soon.

There was a film on the boob tube a while back about brides being kidnapped in...some country that I can't remember, or pronounce.

It was on PBS or the history channel or something like that.

Interesting.

It was the History Channel and it was interesting. Alot of them didnt want to leave but most of them resign the fact, maybe their life would be better with their new husband than being with the family who can not afford to feed another mouth and hard up for money.

This whole subject sickens me. They abandon (if she's lucky) girl babies, if they don't outright kill them, because they prefer sons, and now they're reaping what they sow - except they don't reap, they commit another heinous crime to 'fix' their problems. Misogyny is an awful cultural flaw that's still allowed within far too many societies, and I'm not even going into the sadness of the one-child issue and the methods used to enforce it.

Exactly.

Freedom is an INALIENABLE right. It makes me sick that abuse of women goes on in other countries and not a peep is made against their treatment.
