Our very first egg!!!!!

The wait for the first egg is dreadful...everyday multiple times I would go out to look, hoping there would be an egg. But the actual excitement you feel when you do find the first egg awesome. If we could just bottle it up we'd all be rich ;)

Congrats! :celebrate
HAHAHAHA yea, you don't want to know what HER first eggs cost :gig

Kidding, Becky! I'm kidding! :hide

The first one is the best! And the first dozen! And the hundredth! And.....

Now I am waiting for the older pullets to lay....and watching my first home-raised chicks growing up....which will be pullets? When one of them lays her first egg, that will be something really special to me!

Isn't it worth $300 to know that you are doing the right thing, raising healthy, happy hens and producing cruelty-free eggs, and educating anyone who pauses by your chicken run long enough to get an earful??? :old

It is also worthwhile just in the entertainment value! And don't forget "chicken therapy!" Isn't fun being the Pied Piper and having everyone run to you with joyful anticipation each time they catch sight of you?? :love

freemotion......I have to admit I have got my moneys worth out these birds even if they never lay another egg! :clap I get a smile every time I turn the corner and holler "Hey Girly-girls!" and they all run to the side of the tractor to see what I am bringing them!! :gig
I have ONE that is very friendly, two that are kinda/sorta friendly, two that tolerate me, and one that hides every time I enter the run!! :gig

UPDATE!!!!

My cost per egg is now down to 150.00 each. Just found egg #2!!
:celebrate :lau :lau
