I thought that was a trick question, it depends. If your short, it would be half empty. If your tall it would be half full.

I also couldn't get my head around what sign I was? Number 41....

Well I thought I would tell everyone a little bit about my family and me. We live in southern Ms on a 17 acre farm and we have lots of critters. We homeschool both our boys,Thomas~6 and Connor~5. This is our first year home~schooling and we are loving it!

We want to live as SS as possible and we have lots of projects planned to help us be more SS this year. My dh is not as passionate about being SS as I am but he is supportive of my desire to be. He tells me all the time I would just love it if we could live like Little House on the Prairie and he is right!!! LOL I would love to live simple and in a time were living SS wasn't so hard.

We have a huge garden planned and hope to have a good harvest this year. We also are planting about 2 acres of field corn for corn meal and for animal feed. Hopefully we can harvest enough to help cut animal feed cost.

Ok about the critters~ We have 1 pony(Dusty),1 calf,3 pigs,36 rabbits, about 67 chickens, 3 dogs(Dixi~German Shepherd,Spike~rat terrier, Sampson~Great Pyr) and3 cats (Sunshine,AJ,yellow).

We hope to soon add some goats ,a Jersey milk cow,a few more beef calves,100 Colored Rangers and some honey bees. We also want to build a root cellar and plant some fruit trees. We have some other projects planned as well but I believe I have already posted them on the Year of the Squirrel.

Well today was a beautiful day and we got a lot done!! It was 83 degrees!! It felt more like May! We decided to give Dusty a bath and start our spring cleaning. Both of the boys have 2 rooms to help with and they did a great job! We are planning to plant a few things in the garden tommorrow and hopefully get some fruit trees planted!

I also want to start the kids a garden of thier own. I really like the idea of the pole and strings and letting plants grow up the strings (sorry can't remember whose thread I saw it on but I liked it).

Well this week has flown by and we got a lot done!

Monday we went and bought over 500.00 worth of groceries to stock our pantry. We bought mostly dry goods and a few meat products. We thought this would be a great way to spend some of our tax refund. I also bought a foodsaver machine so I can use it for putting chickens in the freezer. Also found a couple of shirts for the boys, a dust cover for the printer(brand new), and some of those silicone cooking mini pans all for 2.00 at the local Salvation Army!!
Then we went to an old hardware store that has a lot of SS stuff and bought a couple cast iron pots,some seeds, and drooled over the wood cook stoves!


Tuesday we worked on putting up fence for the cows. We planted some pumpkins and squash in the garden and planted 7 oak trees we dug up while cleaning the fence row.


Wedensday We had to go to the Dr for my dh and went to Lowes to look at the tillers. I think I have found the one I want and we will get it this weekend. When we got back my friend delivered my bee hive!!!! I was soooo excited! I will get bees in mid-April!

Today I hope to get some more stuff transplanted to the garden and do some more spring cleaning. I also think I will order my incubator today. I was going to build one because I thought it would be cheaper and more SS but just some of the stuff at Lowes was over 78.00!!! So I think I will just buy a nice pre-made one that I know will work for a lil more.

Will add some pics later! Got to make some sourdough bread!

Jessica, I love your pics and your animals are soooo adorable...especially Dusty!

You seem to be on the same page as most of us on here about your wants for SS. There are quite a few of us getting bees in the spring also.
