What do you power with this?
Does this give enough power for your entire home? or is it for specific purpose like powering a greenhouse etc?

I take it that you are off grid. With the batteries and dump load it would seem you are not net metering. Feeding back to the grid. Like FC asked are the batteries enough for you whole home?

Very cool thank you for sharing the info and pics!!!

our windturbine on a good day makes around 1000 watts. but thats NOT very often. DH made the blades using a draw-shave and a router. he also built the head. wound the wires, poured the mold........its pretty much hand-built. we are still hooked to the grid because at this point in time, electric company required equipment is VERY expensive. so we have RE (re-newable energy) receptacles at the locations we use the RE power. woodburner blower, lamps, circulating pump, freezer, t.v. so when we want to use the RE power, we just turn the items on using the RE stored in the batteries. when we lose grid power, we still can function at a minimum. obviously by no means does our windturbine energize our whole house.

Are there any regulations on having a tower that tall? I think we could do it out at our old place with a tower about half that height. Especially since we are on a hill top. (we call it a mountain around here :p)

definitely

before installing a tower you best check with your local zoning laws.

many can not do this. many have restrictions.
