It looks nice, but I'd prefer to see these pics in the summer when I'm too hot! :lol:
 
Deb, you would like this place from a naturalist perspective - the gorges and hollows are holdovers from the last glaciated period. The glaciers halted north of this location, so the original flora remained. Most plants are found up in Canada today (hemlock, etc), not normally here in Ohio.

And yes, in the summer, some of the gorges can be 20 degrees cooler than the rest of the area.
 
Sounds nice. I'd really love to get out of this area, but I'm looking Kentucky.
 
I'd love to visit there, Jamie. I first saw pictures on pinterest of the gorges. Very cool place.
 
I am going to hit as many state parks here this year as I can, plus a few in WV.

This is Nelson Ledges State Park. The rock formation is a porous conglomerate from an ancient shore. In this cave, the water is seeping down from a stream that flows about 40 ft above on the surface

Years ago, hubby and I were in PA in the winter. We found land for sale that had a waterfall on it. If it had been at all possible, we would have bought it and moved there.
