There is also a type of plantain called buckthorn... it's nicer for eating because it doesn't have the tough "veins". I keep meaning to start some early enough to grow though the winter in my unheated greenhouse/hoophouse because it's very hardy.

They will cross and ruin your native plants

it is a bit late for that (i was going back and reading through older threads and posting to them :) ).

around here there are several types of plantains.
